2006 – 2007 – IT Operations Co-Ordinator at Alpine Electronics of UK, for my placement year in industry.
Working within a small IS department covering 3 sites, 2 in the UK and one in Sweden. Daily work consisted of maintaining the network, user support, hardware and software maintenance, user administration, virus and firewall checks, buying and installing equipment and backups.
In addition, a lot of projects were worked on in the department. Some where handled individually, some involved the IS department as a whole, and some involved working with the Head European IS department, or with the Head Global IS Japan department.
Other:
2005 Summer – Data entry work at Nottingham University Library.
IGDA member, 2007-present. Currently am a member working on Game Preservation special interest group, as well as helping to update their website, and actively go to chapter meetings when I can.
Loughborough Students Union Computing Society member 2004-present. Recreational gaming (in the form of LAN parties), and a lot of technical events, help me relax and improve my computing knowledge (and help others to do the same).
LSUTV (Loughborough Students Union Television) - Technical Co-ordinator 2005-2006, and still an active member. I have worked on show production, editing, directing of many shows, and maintaining camera equipment. There are also many live events filmed with live direction and production.
Out of University, I have started to film UK game industry events, with the intention of making them primarily for IGDA members and interested people, and will probably buy my own equipment to use eventually to carry on filming as a hobby, since I enjoy it a lot.
1998 – 2003 – Duke of Edinburgh’s award (Bronze, Silver, doing Gold), completed by doing an expedition to the Pyrenees in France.
I am very computer literate, and have had expert knowledge of Windows systems and programs from my work experience and general knowledge. I also sometimes work in Linux, and own a Macbook and am learning to use both better when possible.
During my course and spare time I have programmed at least 1 functional program in C, C++, Java, and Prolog, and have done web development in Perl and PHP. My primary knowledge of programming is Java due to my final year project, while using C++ in other applications.
I also have a clean drivers licence.
